The American Red Cross – Southeastern Michigan Chapter is holding their first annual “Ride for Red” Charity Ride on Sunday, July 12, 2009.  We are asking for your assistance to help us promote this ride to the VFW Posts in Michigan.    The ride is a scenic, 50-maile tour of Oakland County’s finest parks and back roads.  It will start at Waterford Oaks Park between 10 a.m. and Noon, where participants will be treated to Bear Claw refreshments.  The route then travels open vistas in and around three other parks:  Independence Park, Seymour Lake Park and Addison Oaks Park.  Bikers will enjoy freebies and refreshments at each stop, while validating their ride ticket, for chances to win some great prizes.

The Southeastern Michigan Chapter’s Ride for Red will benefits the organizations expanding Service to the Armed Forces program, which provides emergency aid to Michigan military personnel, their families and veterans.  Requests by military personnel for family assistance have jumped up 200% since 2002.  Last year our chapter fulfilled over 4,000 requests from our soldiers and their families in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
