"Patriotism is not short, frenzied outbursts of emotion, but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime." I agree wholeheartedly that it is the dedication of a lifetime that defines true patriotism.  You all have given not only your time, dedication and effort, but—most importantly—your very being to the protection and advancement of this great country. You work tirelessly for the rights of the veterans who serve our country, while conducting the nation’s finest civic training to instill young future leaders with the knowledge, understanding and wisdom to govern this country.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. How and when is the dues increase going to effect our Post?

A. The dues increase is $10.00. It will take effect 1 Jan 2014. National will not be changing the amount of the Post per capita. They will however be raising the dues $10.00. which means if post dues are $25.00 they will be   raised to $35.00. If a Post wants to change the per capita that they receive than they would have to send in a change request to National. It is usually a Red postcard that National sends out but, this year they are blue.

An Example:

Currently- 25.00 post dues

21.00 to National     (9.50 comes back to Department and 11.50 stays with National)

                    4.00 the post keeps

Change as of Jan- 35.00 dues

31.00 to National    (10.50 comes back to Department, 11.50 stays with National, 6.00 goes to National Veterans Service and 3.00 goes to Programs that National C of A  deems needs the additional support.

                             4.00 the post keeps

Q. What are subscription dues and how do they work?

A. Subscription dues are just like a magazine subscription. It gives you 365 days of membership in the VFW. With this being the first year that they are coming into effect it will be a process that we are not use to. The basic breakdown of what is going to happen is:

If you are an annual member and you pay your dues before Jan your expiration will be Jan 2015. If you pay after that date whatever day your dues are processed at National will be the new expiration date. Example would be that you send in your dues to National on 1 Feb 2015 and National processed them on the 15 Feb. Your new expiration date would be 15 Feb 2016.
