As we enter into the beginning of another membership year for the Department of Michigan and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, we are asking once again, that we all improve in our membership status. Membership is the VFW’s most valuable asset to our future. It is up to each and every Comrade in this Great Department to strive to improve this asset. Together we can make our Great Department 100% in Membership once again. This year we are asking each member to specifically focus on three demographic groups. 1. Younger vets, especially those who served in the Persian Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan or received the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal. 2. Female veterans, of whom according to the Pentagon, more than 200.000 have served in Iraq or Afghanistan since 2001. 3. Vietnam veterans, still the largest pool of eligible veterans in the state. Your membership team is ready to assist you with forms, membership drives, etc. The team is just a phone call away. “Let Us Help”! As your Membership Director for 2011-2012 year, I will do my best to see that all your requests for assistance will be met and followed through by the Department Membership Team or myself. This program will be adhered to in all categories. It shall be the State Commanders prerogative to make any changes or additions to the Membership program this administrative year. RECRUITER AWARDS These awards will be given out according to the program, which is listed below in bold type.
