Dean Maki
14th District Commander - Navy

My name is Dean Maki. I have been married to Jill Howard for 15 years. This is my second tour as District Commander. I had the honor this year as to have been appointed to the National Veterans Service Resolution Committee. I am a Bronze Legacy Life Member of Post 3165 in Negaunee where I currently serve as Commander/Adjutant. I am also a Life member of AMVETS Post 122 in Ishpeming where I serve as Adjutant. And I am a Paid Up For Life member of American Legion Post 114 in Greenwood. I enlisted in the USN in 1985. I am a veteran of Operations: Desert Shield/Desert Storm/Provide Comfort where I served as an Electronics Technician specializing in Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) onboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) of which I was a Plankowner. After serving on active duty, I joined the National Guard and retired in 2007 while serving with the 1075th Maintenance Co. out of Marquette. I retired this October from the Michigan Department of Corrections at Marquette Branch Prison after 23 years. 
District 14 meetings are as follows: August 16th in Manistique at 10:00 am. November 1st in Sault Ste. Marie at 1:00 pm. April 18th in Negaunee at 10:00 am.
